Glittery Buttons Card

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share, that I made to enter into the following challenges:

Here's the card I made:

I used Copic markers to color white cardstock, and added white/clear glitter on top using the MIM glitter diecuts technique. I tied the diecut buttons with some twine, and added them to a plain label shape (also diecut). I stamped a sentiment below the buttons, and added some faux stitching to the label shape with a brown pencil. I tied some twine around the cardbase, and adhered the label to the cardbase using foam adhesive.

Here's my card for this challenge:

Since the challenge this time is no coloring, I decided to paper piece my image using solid color cardstock. I stamped my piece for the turtle, and paper pieced him. I used lots of circles on this card, both from punches and dies. I also added some black rhinestones to complete the card =)

Mini Birthday Card

Hi everyone

Today I have a mini card to share with you, that I made to enter into the following challenges:

Here's the mini card I made

I decided to make a mini card with a masculine color scheme, because of the black cardstock. I wanted to use some of my twine, because I rarely use it and want to start using it more =) So I took three colors of twine, and tied then together in one bow. I took the two elements on the sketch, with one being behind the other, and used my twine and sentiment piece to mimic those elements. I adhered the twine to the back of the sentiment, which was stamped in black on white cardstock, and adhered the full piece onto the black mini card base using a double layer of foam adhesive.

SPARKS Challenge: April 19th - May 3rd

Hi everyone

Today I'm sharing my DT card for the current SPARKS challenge. Here's the inspiration photo for this challenge:

I
Here's the card I made:
I

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I was inspired by the ice cream cones in the inspiration picture, and the pretty colors of the fruit they were filled with. I stamped and colored an ice cream image from Paper Smooches, and stamped and diecut a sentiment too. I colored some white cardstock with different colors of Copics to match the colors of the fruit from the inspiration picture, and diecut tiny circles with a border die. I then adhered the tiny dots onto my ice cream image. Both the image and the sentiment were adhered to a small white cardbase using foam adhesive.

This is the final SPARKS challenge in my term as a design team member. With that in mind, I wanted to find a way to say thank you so much to Kim (owner of Paper Smooches) for having me on the team, and for being such a wonderful person, designer and business owner. I have loved working with Kim and her wonderful stamps, and it has been such a great experience to be on the SPARKS design team =) Kim is currently having a design team call to assemble a new SPARKS design team, so if you too love Paper Smooches stamps, I highly encourage you to try out! The deadline for submitting for the call is April 23rd, at midnight PT, so make sure you hurry and get your application in! You can find all the details on the DT call here.

Anyways, to say thank you to Kim, I wanted to make a card that represented some of the things I love about Paper Smooches stamps. I decided to go back to the very first Paper Smooches stampset I bought, which was the "Falling for You" stampset. I just LOVE the monster image in that set, and I use it over and over again. Here's the card I made, using the monster and some stamps from other sets too:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I paper pieced the monster, flower and little bow to make this a cute girl monster. I stamped a sentiment (that I also love) onto white cardstock, and adhered the monster next to it. I matted that cardstock piece onto pink patterned paper, and adhered that whole piece onto a white cardbase using foam adhesive.

Fairytale Dress Card

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share, that I made to enter into the following challenges:

Here's the card I made:

Oh, and if it's not so clear to see in the pictures, the bird on the top left and the sentiment was adhered to the front of the card, and the dress and other two birds was adhered to the inside of the card =)

I'm not perfectly happy with how it turned, I think it looks a bit too dark and cold in a way. But I wanted to share it anyways, because I am so happy about how my idea for the stamped scene worked out =)

Here comes my long explanation on how I made this card. Feel free to skip reading if you want to =)
I got the idea for doing an image like the scene from Cinderella where the birds and mice help make the dress for her to wear to the ball. I tried using the mouse from "Critters on the farm" for the image too, but I didn't like them after all, so I skipped using them. I found a Disney book we had with the story, and took the colors for the pink dress with blue details from there.
I cut out a window from the front of the cardbase, and added a black outline to it with another piece of black cardstock. I started to stamp the brick pattern from the fireplace from "Cozy Christmas", but wanted to speed it up so I did the rest of the front in the same pattern using a black marker and a ruler. For the dress, I used the top of a dress form stamp, and made it into a long ballgown with a black marker. I colored it with Copics, and added some tiny white dots to the dress (to look like tiny pearls) with a white pen. I stamped the big bow in a really light blue memento ink, and colored on top with a blue copic. I then traced the outside with a black marker. I stamped some birds and colored them yellow too. Everything was cut out, and adhered together. The one bird in the top left was adhered on the front of the card, the rest was adhered inside the card. Before adhering, I had sponged the inside lightly with white ink, to make it a slightly different color then the ouside. I stamped the bottom of the dressform on the inside of the card before adhering the dress too, and went over it with a white pen after the ink had dried. For the sentiment, I stamped it with white ink, and went over it once the ink had dried with the white pen. I matted it onto black cardstock, and adhered it to the front of the card.

I think that's it for how I made this card. If anything was unclear, feel free to ask me about it in the comment section of this blogpost =)

Flowery Hello Card

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share, that I made to enter into the following challenges:

Here's the card I made

I stamped some flowers from a Paper Smooches stamp set onto white cardstock, and added stemps and leaves to the flowers that didn't already have it as part of the original stamp, with my Memento marker. I colored the flowers to fit the orange-blue opposite colors from the color wheel (for the CAS-ual Friday challenge), and added a few other colors to complete the image. To cut out my image, I wanted to use a Spellbinders die, but it was too big for my image. So I traced the inside of the die onto my image, and cut it out using my scissors. I then matted it onto black cardstock diecut with the same die, and adhered it onto a kraft cardbase using foam adhesive.

SPARKS Challenge: April 5th - April 18th

Hi everyone

Today I'm sharing my DT card for the current SPARKS challenge. Here's the inspiration photo for this challenge:
I
Here's the tag I made:
I

 Stamps by Paper Smooches

I was inspired by the colors and design of the inspiration photo. I used several different stamps from one Paper Smooches stamp set, and stamped them in different colors onto a blue piece of cardstock. To get the exclamation point, I stamped an 'i' upside down. I diecut a tag from the same blue cardstock as used for the sentiment piece, and edged it with a black marker. I added some black embroidery floss to the hole in the tag. I edged the sentiment piece with the black marker, and adhered it onto the tag using foam adhesive.

Thank You Card With Doll

Hi everyone

This is my second post today. Please scroll down for my previous post =)

In this post, I'm sharing a card I made to enter into the following challenges:
A blog named Hero - Challenge #1 Play Favorites
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Use your favorite tool (I used my favorite paper trimmer, as well as my Cuttlebug with dies and my trusted scissors =)
Hero Arts Blog - April Contest (I based my card upon one of the sketches from the contest)

Here's my card:

Kind of a different card from me today, but I do like how it turned out =) I used my favorite Hero Arts stampset on this card. The doll and the flower is from that stampset. I stamped the doll, colored her in, and cut her out. I then stamped part of the border from the set, colored in the one flower, and cut it out. I adhered that onto the doll, sandwiching a couple of layers of cardstock in between to add a tiny bit of height. I stamped the woodgrain stamp onto sage green cardstock, sponged the edges and adhered it onto a white cardbase, also with sponged edges. I diecut a white circle, stamped a sentiment onto a strip of paper, and cut the one end of the sentiment strip into a v-shape. I then sponged the sentiment strip and the circle. I adhered the sentiment strip and doll onto the white circle, and adhered the circle onto the cardbase using foam adhesive.
