Congratulations Card

Hi everyone

So, I just started working again this week, after having a nice summer vacation. I had a few weeks off from work, and even took an extra one to spend time with my family. It was great, and I had a lot of time to craft, and I made a few cards and videos =) I'll be sharing those cards+videos here on my blog one at a time, starting now!

The first card I'm sharing, is a pretty stamped card, where I even managed to use enamel dots for embellishing. Yes, I say managed, because I usually have a very hard time positioning and using enamel dots, pearls or rhinestones. But this time I was determined to make it work, and it did - yay!

Check out the video below, or on YouTube here

Christmas Light Bulb = Flower

So, you might be wondering what I mean by that title. Well, in Card Camp 2, they issued a challenge last week, to use holiday themed stamps for a non-holiday card. So, I used a christmas light bulb (like on a light garland) stamp, and turned it into a flower =) I also used last week's color combination.

( sorry about the blurry photo here! )

Green Blue Gradient Card

Today I am showing you a card I made for Card Camp 2, using this weeks color combination.

The card was also made to enter into A Blog Named Hero's current challenge, which is Inspired by a Hero Arts artist. I was really inspired by the technique Jennifer McGuire showed in this video, using baby wipes to quickly smear out ink.

Here's the card I made:

I used distress inks with the baby wipe technique on my card. I smeared ink directly from the inkpad onto a piece of watercolor paper, in straight "fields" next to eachother. I then gently used a babywipe to smear out the colors and blend them together. When the piece was dry, I added some water drops to it as well =) I am so happy with how it turned out, and I enjoyed the process a lot. I hardly NEVER use my distress inks, but the success and fun I had with this technique has me wanting to do more vibrant distress pieces like this. So I have put the seasonal colors of distress inks on my wishlist now, because they are so vibrant and fun =) I stamped and embossed the sentiment on a scrap piece of old bazzill cardstock, to bring in the brown from the Card Camp color scheme.

Card Camp Week 1 Card

So, I am enrolled in the OCC's Card Camp 2, which started this week. I am so happy I decided to enroll, and I'm enjoying all the videos and the guest designers cards. And, I LOVE the color combo they've set for this week! So, since monday, I've been working on a card using the color combo. Well, first "working on it" in my head for a long time, before I actually sat down to make the card! Anyways, the card is also somewhat inspired by one of the sketches they've set for this week too =)

I must say, that cute monster is one of my all-time favorite Paper Smooches stamps. The set it's in was the first ever PS set I bought, and I keep going back to it all the time =) One thing that I really love about it (except for the funny expression in it's face) is that it's a fantasy creature, so it can be colored in whatever color I want. This time, I went for a fun orange polkadot, and added a bow colored pink and yellow with some sparkle to make it a girl monster =)
