Design Principles - Self Paced Class

The second 7 or less challenge is going on right now! Click the graphic below to check it out

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone

I am here today to share some great news with you =) Britta Swiderski is re-releasing her Design Principles class from last summer, as a self-paced class!

The Inspiration University: Design Principles class is now ready as a self-paced class! Join Britta Swiderski as she walks you through the Design Principles and shows dozens of methods and techniques for applying them to your own projects.
The class consists of 10 complete lessons with additional introduction and review, over 5 hours of exclusive video content. Each lesson is centered around four videos: a traditional whiteboard-style lesson, the making of a helpful reference tag and two cards. There are more than two dozen never-before-seen cards from Britta and a wonderful group of guest designers, all helping you understand and learn about the Design Principles. It's like going to college for card making and design all at the same time!
Included with this self-paced class is a refined, printable ebook to guide you through the lessons and supplement each lesson with more tips and tricks. All class material is accessed through the portal at brittaswiderski.com and Google Drive; class participants have lifetime access to all class material.
For more information or to purchase a seat in the class, please visit brittaswiderski.com/shop. See you there and get ready to go back to the most interesting class in college!

Here is a card I made a couple of days ago, inspired by the 'Hierarchy' lesson. I used the arrows to lead the eye to the sentiment on the card:

I was honored to be a guest designer for Britta for Design Principles, and today I get to give away a free seat in class to one of my blog viewers =) To enter into the giveaway, leave a comment on this blog post, answering the following question: Do you ever think about different design principles when making a card, or do you just do what looks and feels right to you?

7 or less - Challenge 2

Today I am here to start the second 7 or less challenge!

I am so sorry it has been so long since the last challenge. Unfortunantely, life, with it's ups and downs, got in the way for a while =) Anyways, I hope you will have fun with this challenge, if you choose to give it a go. I certainly hope you will! It is really challenging to limit yourself to 7 products, but it's so fun too =)

Challenge Theme

For this challenge, you must use only 7 or less products on your card. This time I've also suggested an optional theme, thank you cards =)

So, before I tell you more details on how to enter the challenge, here’s a video I shot while making my card for this challenge:

And here is a picture of the finished card:

 (Stamps by Paper Smooches)

I am so happy with how the idea I had in my head, turned out on paper =) The whale is such a fun image! I'm not so pleased with how I wasn't able to get it completely centered on the card, though. Those kinds of things really bugs me... But I'm going to try and let it go =) Anyways, onto the information about the challenge.

Silver Easter Card

I am entering into few challenges with the card I'll be showing you today:

Runway Inspired - ric#32

Simon Says Stamp - Easter/spring

I was also inspired by an image I saw on Pinterest, showing white eggs with black fun faces drawn on them =)

I stamped the eggs, glasses and the mustache in black ink. I drew the eyes in, and stamped the lips in hot pink. I selectively inked two different sentiments to get the 'happy easter'. I added some silver paper I bought at a dollar-type store to the cardbase, and adhered the eggs and sentiment strip embellished with bling to finish the card. I love how the glasses turned ourt to give the eggs a slight hipster feel =)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I'll be back soon with the next 7 or less challenge for you =)

Wrinkled Note Valentine

Hi everyone

I'm stopping by quickly today, to share one of two cards I am lucky enough to have published in Paper Crafts' Card Creations - Volume 11. This is such a great special issue, and I am honored and thrilled that they chose two cards of mine for publication in this magazine, both for the "love" section =)

Here's one of the two cards I have published in the issue. Please check out the magazine itself for supply list and instructions for this card, and to see my other card published and all of the other awesome cards in the issue! You can buy the magazine online here, if you can't find it locally =)

I am really happy with how my idea for this card worked out. I thought about a love note that has gotten all crumpled up while being kept safe in someones pocket =)

Products I'm loving right now

Hi everyone

Today I want to share a few products that I don't have in my collection, but that are on my wishlist right now. I don't know about you, but I often find new products to swoon over, and I'd like to share some of my favorites right now with you in this post =)

All the items on todays wishlist are linked to Simon Says Stamp. I am not an affiliate with them, but I love them so much, and now I almost only shop from them! They have a great big selection and great service, and I love that =)

I love the bright, happy colors of the two Doodlebug washi tapes, and the pretty Doodlebug pearls too =) Simon Says also has several exclusive products in their range that I'm loving right now. The cute little hearts, the big hearts with coordinating stamp set, and the cute kitty stamp set! Also on my wishlist today are alphabet dies from My Favorite Things. I don't have any alphabet dies and I like the size and font on these ones =) Oh, and let's not forget the fun lantern stamp set designed by Teri Anderson for Technique Tuesday. It's so fun and I love that the stamps are solid, it makes them great fun to use with your colored inks =)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, and checking out these great products!

Green Lion Tag

Today I want to share a tag I made, using a fun technique with my new Lawn Fawn stamps and coordinating dies. I decided I wanted to try paper piecing the lion from Lawn Fawns "Critters on the Savanna", and also get that fun white outside border around the image that the dies gives. Here's a video where I show you my process for making the paper pieced diecut:

I am entering the finished tag I made into the following challenges:
Lawnscaping - Challenge #53: Texture

Simon Says Stamp - A Bit O' Green

And here are pictures of the finished tag:

To add texture to the tag, I used grosgrain ribbon, some kraft twine and textured green bazzill cardstock. The tag was diecut with a MFT tag die, but I also cut it down and rounded the cut corners again to make it smaller than the original tag diecut.

Happy Sun Card

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted a card on my blog in a looong time. Sorry about that! I was ill for a couple of weeks, and work and family stuff took up all my energy. Thankfully I feel better now, and have made two projects today =) The first one is a card I made for the following challenges:

Paper Smooches SPARKS - Trend Watch (inspiration photo)

Runway Inspired - ric#31
I was inspired by the yellow, white and black from the outfit, as well as that fabulous pinkish-red color in the graphic on the shirt. And I was inspired by the smiley faces from the SPARKS inspiration picture, to make something that looked fun and somewhat like a childs drawing =) Here's how my card turned out:

(I am sorry about how washed out the yellow panel with white embossing looks in this picture. It was so difficult to photograph!)

I simply embossed the images and sentiment onto a yellow piece of cardstock, drew in little dots in the corner, and matted it onto black cardstock. I then matted red cardstock onto a white cardbase, and adhered the image piece onto the card using foam adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I'll be back soon to share a tag I made today too =)
